Mijares-Munoz update!

Thursday, May 15 2008

WBC super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares (34-3-2, 14 KOs) and WBA superfly champ Alexander "El Explosivio" Munoz (32-2, 27 KOs) pose at today's press conference in advance of the first super flyweight unification title bout in more than 10 years, headlining Saturday's "Noche de Campeones" pay-per-view event live from the Auditorio Centenario in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico. "I'm ready and I'm sure I'm going to beat my opponent," Mijares remarked. "I'm not going to say if it'll end early or go the distance, but I'm prepared for anything because it's a big responsibility to be fighting at home. We're not friends but we're not enemies, either. We're just rivals for this fight." Munoz commented, "I'm ready for this fight. I'm going to knock out Mijares and take both belts back to Venezuela."
