Spadafora to box in exhibtion!
By Kurt Wolfheimer

Over 300,000 people are expected to attend the annual “Thunder in the Valley” motorcycle rally in Johnstown, Pennsylvania this weekend. The sound Harleys will not be the only thing reverberating through the city of Johnstown this Saturday as professional boxing returns to War Memorial Arena, when Michael Acri Promotions presents “Fists of Thunder!” The main event of the evening pits Johnstown’s own heavyweight sensation and former 2006 Golden Gloves champion Andres “Taylor Made” Taylor (1-0) in a four round clash against Coatesville, PA’s Kevin Hood (5-9-1).

Heavyweights are also in store for the co-feature as Cleveland Ohio’s Ryan Thompson (5-5, 5 KOs) swaps punches with Mike Miller (3-11, 2 KOs) of Akron, Ohio in a six round battle. A pair of undefeated welterweight pugilists are also set for action as Pittsburgh, PA’s Jesse Lubash (6-0, 3 KOs) squares off with Sam Gibson (1-0, 1 KO) of Elkhart Indiana in a four rounder. Also on tap is an exciting four round battle of undefeated light heavyweights as Anthony Pietrantonio (4-0, 3 KOs) of Youngstown, Ohio and Cleveland Ohio’s Chris Fitzpatrick (1-0) are set to go toe to toe. Somebody’s “0” must (hopefully) go as winless middleweights, Jerome Black (0-3) of Cleveland, Ohio and Troy Nelson (0-1) of Columbus, Ohio swap punches to see who can get that elusive first victory as a pro in their scheduled four round tussle. Opening the show is a four round middleweight battle between Jesse William (4-7-1, 2KOs) of Youngstown, Ohio and Akron Ohio’s James Denson (3-2, 2KOs).
Former IBF lightweight champion Paul “The Pittsburgh Kid” Spadafora (41-0-1, 16KO’s) - now fighting at welterweight - will put on an exhibition for the crowd. His opponent will be Bunola, PA’s “Lightning Rod” Salka, who sports a perfect record of 6-0, with two wins coming by way of knockout.
The doors open at 6:30 pm and the first bout is set for 7:30 pm. Ticket are available at the War Memorial Arena (located at 326 Napoleon Street) or call 814- 536-5156.
