Less than two weeks since his second round annihilation of American Donnell Wiggins, Kazakh light heavyweight prospect Beibut Shumenov was back into the ring to quickly destruct Wiggins’ compatriot Lavell Finger (26-3, 13 KOs) in just a round. Former amateur standout Shumenov got his fifth kayo in as many fights and retained an interim PABA and a WBC Asian Boxing Council 175lb titles. He also acquired WBO Asia Pacific belt during the process. The bout was arranged yesterday in Chimkent.

Commenting on recent wins by Shimenov and welterweight Vitaly Demyanenko (WBO #13/WBC #14), leading Kazakh promoter Yerik Jailauov in an interview with Mikhail Vasiliev from ‘Vremia’ local newspaper said, "Vitaly will have a minor jubilee (15th fight) soon and we want to make it memorable with a help of another title bout. We hope famed Argentinean Omar Gabriel Weiss (38-8-3, 16 KOs) is going to be Demyanenko’s next opponent. This bout will be a good leap forward in promotion. We also have a prelimianry agreement with world-known trainer Kenny Adams, who has prepared 19 world champions and is ready to work with Vitaly now. As of Beibut Shumenov, we have chosen a different strategy by starting his promotion overseas. He is already quite popular there, especially in Florida. We hope Beibu and Vitaly will be our next world champions."
