McCloskey faces biggest test! Thursday, March 27 2008 By Robert Coster One thing must be said about Brian Peters, he takes risks and doesn't believe in sheltering his boxers. This fact is clearly evident in yet another card offered by the dynamic Irish promoter when unbeaten Irish jr welterweight prospect Paul McCloskey (15-0, 7 KOs) takes on former WBC lightweight champion Cesar Bazan (46-9, 30 KOs) at the Letterkenny Leisure Complex in Dublin this Saturday night. "We are conscious of the risks," says Peters, "but Irish fans want to see real fights, real challenges." Bazan has predicted that he will not leave the decision in the hands of the judges. "McCloskey has a lot to learn before stepping into the ring with someone like me," said the former Mexican world titlist, brimming with confidence. Other bouts in the action-packed card will see Neil Sinclair vs Juan Martinez Bas of Spain, Andrew Murray, Ciaran Healy, Damian Taggart, all young up-and -coming Irish boxers that attest to boxing upsurge in the country, largely due to the efforts of promoter Peters and his team.
