In the wildest fight of the year, Kendall Holt (24-2, 13 KOs) scored a spectacular first round knockout over reigning world super lightweight champion Ricardo Torres (32-2, 28 KOs) to seize the WBO belt on Saturday night at the Planet Hollywood Casino in Las Vegas. Torres came out fast and knocked down Holt twice. However when Torres came in for the finish, Holt connected with a huge right hand that knocked Torres out cold. Torres was staggered by an unintentional headbutt just prior to Holt landing the coup de grāce. The bout lasted just 61 seconds. Torres had scored an eleventh round stoppage of Holt in a chaotic atmosphere ten months ago in Barranquilla, Columbia, but Holt returned the favor with interest, leaving Torres hanging motionless from the bottom rope.

In his Top Rank debut, WBO #5 super lightweight Lamont Peterson (25-0, 12 KOs) was too skilled and too fast for veteran Rogelio Castaneda (24-14-3, 8 KOs), getting a ninth round stoppage after dropping Castaneda earlier in the round. Time was 2:50.
In an upset, Don Mouton (5-2-1, 4 KOs) knocked out previously unbeaten Josiah Judah (9-1-1, 2 KOs). Time was 1:42 of the first round.
Super welterweight Joseph Judah (2-0, 0 KO) won a four round unanimous decision over Luis Tapia (0-1)
Super fly Michael Franco moved to 12-0, 8 KOs with a six round unanimous decision over Javier Lagos (15-11-2, 4 KOs).
