Oscar Diaz returns!

Monday, May 5 2008

NABA welterweight champion Oscar Diaz returns to the ring on May 30th at the Municipal Auditorium in San Antonio, Texas. The 25-year-old Diaz (25-2) will be back in the ring after a 10 month layoff against veteran Roberto Valenzuela (44-36). Diaz suffered a bad cut from a head butt against Juan Buendia on July 14, 2007, which was followed by the tragic death of his father. "I can't wait to get back in the ring, it's been a rough year and it's time to go to work! My promoter and I decided to come back to my hometown, where I turned pro and fought most of my fights the first two years of my career. We have the best fans in the country, and this is where I wanted to get back in the ring after this long lay off," stated Diaz.

In the co-feature, welterweight Michael Torres (10-0) faces Gilbert Vera (8-1). Local prospects will fill the undercard. "This is going to be an exciting, all action show and I hope all the fans come out to support Oscar and enjoy the action," stated promoter Donna Brooks. Tickets ($20, $30, $50) go on sale Wednesday at the Municipal Auditorium and Ticketmaster outlets.
