Dawson stops Kietbusaba!

Formerly world rated light middleweight Daniel Dawson (30-1, 21 KOs) got back on the winning track when he scored a stoppage win over Sintung Kietbusaba (12-5, 6 KOs) of Thailand in round eight at the Goldfields Oasis Recreation Center, Kalgoorlie, Western Australia on Sunday to capture vacant PABA 154 pound title. The Thai boxer came to fight and made the Aussie work hard in all rounds. Dawson dropped the visitor in rounds four and seven with body shots. Referee Brad Vocale saved the Thai boxer from further punishment at 1:42 of round eight. Dawson's only loss was suffered in 2007 when he was defeated over twelve rounds by world class Daniel Geale in Sydney. Kietbusaba last visited Australia in 2007, when he lost in seven rounds to former world amateur champion Anton Solopov in Sydney.


On the undercard lightweight Erin McGowan (6-0, 5 KOs) stopped Knanpirom Muahgroid (0-1) at 1:58 of round one. Cruiserweight Eric de Mori (2-0) knocked out Trevor Loomes (0-4) in 2:40 of round one. Light middleweight John Turong (1-0) won a four round split decison over Terdkiat Siththeppital (0-3) of Thailand. Light welterweight Michael Jones (1-0) stopped Mark Maskiel (0-1) at 1:44 of round four. Light middleweight Michael Hatwell (3-0) scored a second round stoppage over Mike Wanprasert (14-17-2) of Thailand. Time was 32 seconds. Promoter Ron Parr.
