Upsets abound in Manchester

In a huge upset, highly regarded lightweight Amir Khan was spectacularly knocked out in the first round by unheralded Colombian Breidis Prescott on Saturday night at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England. Prescott (20-0, 18 KOs), a 33:1 underdog making his European debut, dropped the previously undefeated WBO #2/WBC #5 rated Khan (18-1, 14 KOs) with two left hooks almost immediately then floored him for the count just 54 seconds into the fight.

Earlier, the first defense of WBO super featherweight champion Alex Arthur (26-2, 19 KOs) was also a shocker as he was dethroned by Nicky Cook (29-1, 16 KOs) via unanimous decision. Cook was the aggressor and earned a 117-112, 117-111, 115-114 win over Arthur, whose performance seemed flat.
Also, heavyweight Audley Harrison outpointed George Arias by a score of 98-92.
