WBC #5 ranked cruiserweight contender Matt “Too Smooth” Godfrey made a huge statement in front of a national television audience in the main event of ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT as he retained his NABF title with a devastating fourth round stoppage over former USBA title holder and WBA #12 and WBC #14 rated contender Emmanuel Nwodo (22-5, 18 KOs). In the co-main event, 2004 Olympian Jason “Big Six” Estrada (14-1, 3 KOs) continued his rise in the heavyweight division by scoring a workman-like eight round unanimous decision over Domonic Jenkins (13-9-1, 6 KOs). Also in action, featherweight prospect Matt Remillard(15-0, 8 KOs), of nearby Manchester, CT, kept his undefeated record intact Friday night with an impressive fourth round TKO over Adauto Gonzalez (10-6, 3 KOs).
