Briggs tops Wilson!

Former Australian heavyweight champion Nathan Briggs (20-5, 16 KO) 235lbs scored the biggest win of his career when he outpointed Colin Wilson (34-24, 20 KO) 260 lbs over twelve rounds to capture the OPBF crown at the Mansfield tavern, Mansfield, Queensland, Australia on Friday. Wilson had previously stopped Briggs in five rounds in 2005 and 2006. Nathan is the twin brother of former WBC light heavyweight challenger Paul Briggs. Paul is the trainer of Nathan. Wilson has been in the ring with several world class heavyweights including Joe Bugner, Corrie Sanders, Kali Meehan, Shane Cameron and Oleg Platov.


In main support Chris McCullem (12-1, 5KO) outpointed John Cotterill Jr (22-6,10KO) over ten rounds with the Australian 140 pound title up for grabs. Samoan heavyweight Alex Lepai (11-3-2,8KO) 231 lbs won eight round decision over Moyoyo Menshah (16-7-1, 8KO) 211 lbs of Ghana. Lepai holds a stoppage win over Briggs. Mensah lost to former IBF cruiserweight champion Wlodarczyk Krystztof in 2007 but defeated former WBU cruiserweight champion Sebastian Rothman in 2006. He is now based in Australia. Middleweight Jason Hartmann (4-1) won a four round decision over William Hadlow (6-12-4). Super middleweight Clint Luby and Geoff Fraser boxed a four round draw. Super middleweight Terry Lambert outscored Jason Schubert over four rounds. Promoter Angelo DiCarlo. Televised nationally on Foxtel cable television network.
