PABA#3 super light Dan Nazareno Jr. (14-4,10 KOs) celebrated his 21st birthday with his surprise victory over Manfa Looksaikongdin (16-8,11 KOs) to capture the PABA super lightweight title on Monday at Countryhome Village in Pak-hai, Ayutthaya, Thailand. Well-respected matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz and Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani will promote the Indonesian talent Daud Cino Yordan (25-1, 19 KOs) in a warm up match in Manila, Phillipines, September 25, against local fighter, Christian Avilla, in a 10-round non title fight. “I would like to thank Mr. Lewkowicz and Mr. Gello-ani for their hard work in promoting Daud. He’s a true hidden talent,” said Pino Bahari, Yordan’s manager. Further, Bahari informed that Lewkowicz has prepared several warm up bouts in Asia, before staging the 23-year-old fighter Yordan in a very big event in the US next year. Daud showed his talent giving Robert “the Ghost” Guerrero trouble in 2009 when the fight ended as a no contest in California. But he didn’t do well when he had to fight jetlag and fatigue after he arrived two days before his fight against Celestino Caballero. Daud was defeated by unanimous decision in the 12-round non title bout in April of this year in Florida.
Hayemaker Boxing have made a counter-offer to James Degale for a Commonwealth title challenge against champion George Groves in December. Adam Booth for Hayemaker Boxing made the counter-offer to promoter Frank Warren this morning (Tuesday) at 11.08 a.m, and insists the purse involved was substantially more than the one received from Warren on Monday afternoon. “I can assure everybody that we are determined to make this fight become a reality and are doing everything in our power to bring George Groves and James Degale together before the end of 2010,” explains Booth. “We have made an offer for James to challenge George for his title in December on a Hayemaker Boxing show. Frank Warren wanted us to put our money where our mouth is and that is exactly what we have done. We have come to the table with a far more substantial offer than the one Frank Warren made to us on Monday afternoon. We have noted Frank’s urgency to have the fight agreed within 48 hours and therefore expect James and Frank to step up and accept our incredibly generous offer.”
Irish based Cuban sensation Luis “El Leon” Garcia says he is ready, willing and able to accept a fight with Britain’s Gold medallist, James “Chunky” DeGale if a clash between DeGale and domestic rival George Groves can’t be made. Degale’s promoter Frank Warren made Groves a written offer today for the fight to take place in the UK on December 11th and set DeGale’s London rival a 48 hour deadline to accept or reject the fight. However Garcia says he wouldn’t need any time to sleep on it. “I would accept that fight in a split second,” said Garcia. “I could get some Christmas shopping done in London and show Chumpy DeGale what professional boxing is all about so it sounds like a fun weekend to me.”
