Jacobs: I can’t wait to shut Rosado up

Former middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs and Gabriel Rosado have built up a rivalry over the last year and now that comes to a head November 27 on DAZN.

“Gabe talked his way into this fight and now it’s time to see if he can back it up,” said Jacobs. “He’s got a big mouth and he’s been bringing up my name constantly for over a year – but on November 27 the talking stops and I can’t wait to shut him up. My aim is to become a two-weight division world champion in 2021 and that starts with a big win in Florida. After that, I’m ready to step up and fight one of the world champions at 168 pounds.”

Terms finally agreed for Dubois-Joyce

Queensberry Promotions can today announce that terms have been agreed to stage the highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Daniel Dubois (15-0, 14KOs) and Joe Joyce (11-0, 10 KOs) behind closed doors. The titanic tussle between the two standout British Heavies will now be staged in either late November or early December, with full details to follow shortly.

Davis-Santa Cruz vs. Inoue-Moloney?

Multiple outlets are reporting that the scheduled October 24 Showtime pay-per-view featuring Gervonta Davis against Leo Santa Cruz is being moved to October 31 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Spectators WILL be allowed to attend the fight. The reason for the move is both to avoid a competing UFC pay-per-view the same day and to generate additional revenue from ticket sales.

The move also means Davis-Santa Cruz would be going head-to-head with ESPN’s scheduled telecast of Naoya Inoue vs. Jason Moloney.

Earlier that same day is the heavyweight bout between Oleksandr Usyk and Dereck Chisora in DAZN, so it looks to be a full day of action.

What matters most? Blood and popularity? Or health and integrity of the athletes?

By Mauricio Sulaimán
Son of José Sulaimán / President of the WBC

It is a reality that today violence is an integral part of young people’s lives.

The common thing is to find violence in any recreational activity. Video games are full of it, shots, snipers, blood gushing, splashing and dripping everywhere. Movies and television series are another immediate means to satisfy that bloodlust thirst for caged aggressiveness in society, and how about the news? Just turn the TV on and it is all violence.

Sports also suffer from this phenomenon. I remember how the NHL, the hockey league of the United States, had to modify its rules so that the television audience, as well as the fans in the arenas, would return to that sport. Canelo, Golden Boy, DAZN rift widens

A last ditch effort by Golden Boy and DAZN to bring Canelo Alvarez back into the fold has failed. According to Telemundo, Canelo has refiled his $280 million lawsuit alleging breach of contract. The initial filing was thrown out of court after Canelo’s legal team used incorrect designations for the defendants. This gave the parties three weeks to resolve their differences. Unfortunately no deal was reached and the corrected suit was refiled before the deadline.

According to promoter Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo’s contract calls for disputes to be resolved in arbitration. The wheels of justice turn slowly even in the best of times. With everything still locked down in California due to covid-19, this situation could go on for a long time.
