TKO Boxing Update

Letter to the Boxing Community

TKO Boxing Promotions was founded two years ago. Between then and now we have signed some wonderful fighters, done forty six shows and crisscrossed the United States trying to build the fighters and the company. Unfortunately, we ran into some financial problems that have set us back considerably, hurt our relationships with many fighters and their managers and derailed many of our plans. We also let a lot of people down and for that I am very sorry.

But we are in the fight business, and even though we have been knocked down early in the fight, we are getting back up. TKO has recapitalized so that it can go forward on stronger footing. We are in the process of clearing all of our debts, reconfirming the strength of some of our relationships, sadly restructuring those of the others, but we are moving forward. (more…)

First 3D boxing match

Another technology first for Universum. Some of the fights on Saturday’s card at the o2 World Arena in Hamburg will be presented in 3D. Special 3D cameras will beam the action into the 3D Lounge at the o2 World for a select group, however this will not be visible on the live ZDF telecast. “Boxing is ideally suited for 3D,” said promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl. “We had two trial runs during gym sparring sessions. It’s an incredible experience. It was like you were in the ring too. This wouldn’t work so well in other sports, in football and Formula 1 you’re too far away. This is the future! I am very pleased to present the first 3D fight on July 31st.” The bouts selected for 3D are the main event with Sebastian Zbik, as well as the bouts featuring Juan Carlos Gomez, Jack Culcay and Arthur Matern.

Universum has embraced the new media like no other promoter in boxing, placing their extensive fight library online for fans free of charge, as well as offering a groundbreaking iPhone app.
