Dimitrenko-Krasniqi rematch

It was announced today that heavyweights Alexander “Sascha“ Dimitrenko (29-1, 19 KOs) and Luan Krasniqi (30-4-1, 14 KOs) will meet in a highly charged rematch on November 8 at the König-Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany.
Alexander Dimitrenko: “I knocked out Luan in the first fight. This time I’ll try to do it again. I’m ready to go twelve hard rounds. I learned a lot from from loss to Chambers. There is a great Russian saying that I have lately often said to myself: That what doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger. So the fans will see a better Dimitrenko than they saw against Chambers. I know what I did wrong in training and in the fight. I will not repeat these mistakes.”
Luan Krasniqi: “I am very happy about this rematch. I would like to win this time so badly. Dimitrenko is also coming off a defeat. I had to wait a year for him — now it’s all very exciting. In any event, this time the people will get to see more rounds – hopefully with Luan Krasniqi as the winner!”

Mexican pride drives Campuzano

Fighting solves everything, right? Or so the t-shirt claims. A decade ago that slogan – relatively unpopular at the time pretty much summed up the mindset of a Texas middle schooler named Will Campuzano. He was a child of strikingly few words. And lurking beneath the boy’s chilling quiet was an extraordinarily quick temper . . . Click here for more by Frank Curreri, WEC

WBA flyweight champ Denkaosen Kaowichit (48-1-1, 20 KOs), 112, Thailand, successfully retained his belt as he cleverly kept his distance to batter the belly of 20-year-old Japanese challenger Daiki Kameda (15-2, 11 KOs), 112, throughout the contest and withstood the youngster’s retaliation down the stretch to be awarded a majority but well-received decision (115-113 twice and 114-114) over twelve monotonous rounds on Tuesday in Osaka, Japan. Pirog versus Macklin next?

By Alexey Sukachev

It looks like newly crowned European middleweight champion Matthew Macklin (25-2, 18 KOs), who has just vaporized Finn Amin Asikainen in a couple of brutal minutes, won’t be entitled to a quiet life with his regalia. The European Boxing Union informed Macklin that his next opponent will be highly regarded Russian boxer-puncher Dmitry Pirog (14-0, 11 KOs), who is also holding the WBC International belt. In June, WBO #2, WBC #5, IBF #10 and WBA #12 Pirog opened some eyes with his ultra-dominant decision over Ghanaian Kofi Jantuah. He was suggested a fight for the vacant EBU crown versus Asikainen but rejected it due to a lack of recovery time making a way for Macklin (WBO #5 and WBC #12) to fight for the European title in exchange of the future match-up. Fightnews was advised by informed sources that negotiations between both teams can start as soon as this week.

Ndou vs ex-champ Holiday?

By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing

IBO welterweight champion Lovemore Ndou (47-11-1, 31 KOs) is contemplating a defense against former IBF lightweight champion Philip Holiday (38-6-1, 22 KOs) after having talks recently. Ndou has been based in Sydney, Australia for several years and Holiday is a permanent resident in Brisbane Australia. Ndou said, “I am very interested in giving Philip Holiday a shot at my IBO title. He was interviewed recently (by yours truly) and said he wanted to fight me. We were regular sparring partners when Philip was the IBF lightweight champion. He was an outstanding world champion defeating Australian boxing legend Jeff Fenech by knockout in two rounds and lost the title in a very close fight to boxing great Shane Mosley. Philip said he is in good shape now as he trains daily in Brisbane gym where he trains boxers. There has been bad blood between us so it will be good to complete unfinished business with him.” Holiday last boxed in 2003 when he was stopped by former 2000 Gold Medalist Mohamed Abdulaev in four rounds. Ndou will next defend the IBO welterweight title against Mathew Hatton (37-4-1, 14 KOs) on November 13 in Staffordshire, England.

Suzuki dispatches Petchnameek

By Joe Koizumi

The hard-punching Suzuki caught the shorter Thailander with a well-timed left hook, and sent him sprawling to the deck twice in the second session. A single countering short right just to the button was a haymaker that pulverized him so effectively that the third man stopped counting and halted the proceedings. Sackey Decisions Thompson

By Michael Sheffield, Memphisboxing.com

Fall was brought in with a literal bang Saturday night at Fitzgerald’s Casino, with PrizeFight Boxing’s “Fights at the Fitz” series. With five fights on the card, and an opening bout that set a high standard, the night promised a bright display of entertainment. As the evening wore on however, a few of the bouts didn’t feature that expected burst of color. The six-round main event, 187-pound cruiserweight Daniel Sackey (12-1-1, 6 KOs) and the 195-pound Ross Thompson (27-13, 17 KOs), in which Sackey won by unanimous decision, would underwhelm the crowd. Each round in their fight looked very similar to the next as Sackey diligently pressed the action while Thompson was compelled to counter and hold. There were no knock downs in the fight. (More)
