Molina ready for Lundy

Lightweight John Molina, Jr. (20-1, 16 KOs) will look to make “Hammerin” Hank Lundy (18-0-1, 10 KOs) pay the price when they meet on the July 9 edition of ESPN2 Friday Night Fights. “I’m excited to get back on television and I will make sure I stay there. You learn a lot more in defeat then in victory regardless of the circumstances and it is the worse feeling in the world. I will do everything needed to do in the ring so I never feel like that again. Lundy talks a lot and as far as I’m concerned he can keep it up. As a matter of fact, I like it. It’s been very amusing. I’m going to do my talking in the ring and he’ll know what I mean when I walk away with the belt. I have respect for him and what he has accomplished but come fight time nothing will stop me. I am going to do what I have to do to be victorious.” The event is promoted by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc. Carwin takes on Brock

UFC 116 is LIVE on PPV July 3!

Story by Andreas Hale

The stakes are higher than they have ever been for Shane Carwin. “Monster” has been rolling through the heavyweight division like Mike Tyson in the 1980’s. Nobody has been able to withstand the powerful onslaught of Carwin as he has amassed a 12-0 with 12 first round finishes. In Carwin’s last outing, the usually durable Frank Mir tasted the wrath of Carwin and had his lights promptly cut off at UFC 111 to give the Greg Jackson pupil the interim heavyweight title.

Solis risking title shot

Zanfer

Light flyweight contender Ulises “Archie” Solis (30-2-2, 21 KOs) says he’s set for Saturday’s nationally televised clash against Eric Ortiz (30-9-3, 21 KOs) on Saturday night in Reno, Nevada. Both fighters are former world champions, but Solis is putting a guaranteed shot at the IBF title on the line by accepting this fight. “I know I’m risking a lot,” said Solis. “I have much to lose and nothing to gain from Ortiz, but risk always exists in boxing and I didn’t want to be idle for so long so we accepted the bout Saturday in Reno.” For this fight, Solis prepared for six weeks in Guadalajara under the guidance of Lorenzo Lopez. “As always, we are in excellent physical condition to prevent surprises. We know how dangerous and experienced Ortiz is and will come out victorious,” promised the former champion, who in his last fight defeated Bert Batawang in a world title eliminator.
