Kentikian wins Regina's belt! December 8, 2007 Photos: Spotlight Boxing Female flyweight champion Susi Kentikian retained her WBA title and added the vacant WIBF title formerly held by retired Regina Halmich with a ten round unanimous decison over Nadia Hokmi on Friday night before 3,800 at the Sporthalle Hamburg. After winning a split decision over Hokmi in May, the "Killer Queen" applied pressure from the outset, while Hokmi tried counterpunching with the attacking world champion. Kentikian repeatedly threw left hooks along with combinations to the head and body and had Hokmi in trouble in round seven battering the challenger on the ropes. Hokmi's best weapon was the left. Until the last second, and the two provided an exciting duel for all ten rounds. Scores were 97-95, 96-94, 97-94. Scores were 97-95, 96-94, 97-94. The bout headlined Spotlight Boxing's "ProSieben Fight Night" card.
* * * In the co-feature, unbeaten WBO Intercontinental middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik (21-0, 8 KOs) won a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision over Samir Dos Santos Barbosa (17-3-3, 13 KOs) Scores were 120-108, 120-108, 119-109.
* * * In an important jr welterweight bout, unbeaten WBA #2/WBC #3/WBO #7 rated Marcos Rena Maidana (21-0, 20 KOs) scored an eighth round knockout over Manuel Garnica (21-8, 11 KOs). The explosive Maidana dropped Garnica in round seven and finished the following round. Referee Iko Bebic counted out Garnica at :48.
* * * Unbeaten heavyweight Sebastian Köber (12-0, 11 KOs) was extended the full six by Lee Swaby (22-18-2, 11 KOs), taking a 59-54, 59-54, 59-55 unanimous verdict. Swaby, who was dropped by a left hook to the chin in round one, is the first fighter to go the distance with the hard-punching Köber.
* * * Unbeaten Olympian super featherweight talent Vitali Tajbert (14-0, 6 KOs) scored an impressive tenth round TKO against Youssouf Djibaba (15-13-2, 3 KOs). Time was 2:51. Djibaba is a former EBU-EU title holder. In his second fight in four days and fourth in 25 days, busy featherweight prospect Marcel Meyerdiercks (5-0, 3 KOs) easily swept past Juris Ivanovs (0-5) by scores of 40-36 on all cards.
