World
rated 140 pounder Lovemore Ndou (43-8-1) scored a stoppage in round one
over Decha Banklauygym (21-7-1) of Thailand to defend the IBF Pan Pacific
light welterweight title successfully at the Wyong Leagues club, Wyong,
NSW Australia on Friday.
Ndou
attacked his opponent from the opening bell scoring with hard head and
body shots on the well credentialed import. A vicious left hook to the
body dropped the Thai and he was back on his feet at the count of eight.
Ndou rained punches on his Banklauygym that had him out on his feet at
which point referee Anthony Shipley saved the visitor from further punishment
at 2 minutes 31 seconds.
Ndou said. “I am looking forward to meeting the winner of the Noufell
Ben Rabah vs Juan Urango (who fight for the vacant IBF crown on June 30).
I am confident I can defeat Ben Rabah or Urango. I want to thank Bill
Tracy (the owner of The Grange Gym) for his support."
Ndou
lost a disputed decision to Sharmba Mitchell in 2004.
WBF
light welterweight champion Johnny Cotterill (18-3) scored a six round
split decision over Robert Oyan (15-26-4) of the Philippines. The scores
were 58-56,57-58 and 58-56. Cotterill said. I scored with the more effective
punches – Oyan’s punches were landing on my arms and gloves. I will give
him a rematch”
Junior
light Davey Browne (5-0-1) was impressive in scoring a clear six round
points decision over Junmar Dulog (0-1-1) . The rangy Browne scored with
effective long range punches on the backmove in winning most of the rounds
from the aggressive Filippino Scores were 59-56, 59-56 and 59-57. Browne
will be meeting Emmett Gazzard for the Australian bantamweight title on
June 23.
Welterweight
Charlie Vella (2-1) defeated Adam Wills (2-1) in a crowd-pleasing action
packed bout. Vella is from the nephew of former Australian super middleweight
champion Joe Vella and the cousin of current Australian middleweight champion
Adam Vella.
Welterweight
prospect Ryan Waters (2-1) dropped Tim Drury (4-5) in round one and again
in round two at which point referee Brad Griffiths crowned Waters at 25
seconds of the second stanza.
Jnr
welterweight Shane McFarlane (1-1) scored a clear four round decision
over Ariel Omongos (0-2) of the Philippines. Scores 40-36,40-35 and 39-36.
