Unbeaten flyweight contender Jay Harris (17-0, 9 KOs) knocked out three-time Irish Olympian Paddy Barnes (6-3, 1 KO) in the fourth round at Ulster Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Harris finished Barnes with a bodyshot. Barnes was also down in round three. Time was 2:14.

Former WBO lightweight champion Terry “Turbo” Flanagan (35-2, 14 KOs) won by fourth round DQ over Michael Ansah (17-10-2, 11 KOs). Ansah was chased for hitting on the break. Time 2:58.

Former Dominican lightweight boxer Juan Carlos Batista (“Pacheco”) died in a car accident on Sunday. Batista ‘s career ranged from 2004 to 2013 with a record of 25-2, 18 KOs. Batista won his first 18 bouts and was WBA Caribbean Federation Champion in 2007, beating Mexican Arturo Gomez. Batista cut short his promising career due to a heart ailment. RIP.

Welter champ Errol Spence injured in car accident

WBC/IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. suffered serious injuries in a 3 a.m. one car crash this morning in Dallas, Texas. Police say Spence lost control of his white Ferrari while traveling at a high rate of speed. The champ’s car rolled multiple times and Spence, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was rushed to Methodist Dallas Medical Center where he’s being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.

Spence defeated Shawn Porter in a twelve round war to unify the WBC and IBF belts just 12 days ago.
